Please give us a short summary of your website?
Discount Warhammer 40k, Urban War and Metropolis miniatures, rulesbooks, counters and templates. We also import movie themed statues and toys from the US and Japan.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Boredom really. With the credit crunch work was slow. in order to give myself something to do during the day I opened a website.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Around ten years ago. It was just a small website about myself and what I did at that time.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It was simply a matter of seeing what was available. By the time I hit my 20th or perhaps 50th name I came to www.megaminis.co.uk which luckily wasn't taken.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We offer fantastic discounts which are very VERY hard to beat. On top of that we focus our efforts on helping community websites, gaming clubs and individuals who help to promote the hobby.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We want to be able to branch out into other miniature ranges and keep our highly competitive prices applied to our new products. We also plan to start a page dedicated to gaming clubs where they can sell unused terrain, miniatures and bits in order to raise not only awareness of their club but also much needed funds
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Running a website takes up most of your time. Currently Im working from 9am till 1am however unless I know that Im giving it everything that I have then it wont be a success.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would already be selling items which we don't already stock.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes I believe we could.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Pay per click ads weren't as cheap as I first thought. Search Engine rankings are a head ache as well
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting people to know that we are in business and about the fantastic offers we have.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Sending polite emails to gaming clubs around the UK and letting them know that we are around.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I expected a more immediate responce and higher traffic.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Its been in operation for a month and touch wood will continue to run for many years to come.
Do you play Warhammer 40k or Urban War yourself?
I do yes. Im a member of a club in Clarkston. I can't say I always win but my Imperial guard always do me proud!
