I wish to disagree that straight line meditation "covers fast ground" given it's property of targetting a straight line to your goal. More often then not, that straight line that we all naturally plot between our current position and our goal is often met with obstacles and unforseen challenges that force us to bend the straight line in order to advance. This might seem like you are going in circles as sometimes the curves in the line are very drawn. What traditional meditation does is always allow you to get the bird's eye view so you can see you are in fact not going in circles but still continuing on your line, albeit with a bit of a detour.
