Gardening is a good hobby that produces good result and sometimes productive too, especially if you have chosen to plant useful plants like herbs or vegetables, other than ornamental and flowering plants.
If you're just starting at this hobby, I suggest you study the basic concepts of planting and gardening. Dummies.com has the most basic guides and how-tos for gardening rookies.
